Landscape East (formerly known as The East of England Landscape Forum)
About us
The forum has been in existence since spring 2004, originally as a county council officer networking group. The membership and role has since expanded to meet regional needs.
Over the last few years it has also jointly commissioned studies and engaged more actively with regional processes. Particular achievements include:
Draft Terms of Reference were discussed at a special meeting held on the 10 March 2005, chaired by an officer from the former Countryside Agency. The second draft, below, was prepared as a result of that discussion

Purpose of the Forum

To promote the conservation, enhancement and awareness of the physical, cultural and visual aspects of landscape.

Objectives of the Forum

The Forum comprises members from local authorities, statutory and non statutory and other organisations and the private sector who work within the field of landscape. These members will work collectively to:
* Facilitate a joined up approach to landscape issues across the Region * Develop good practice by providing a forum for landscape expertise * Influence others to ensure landscape issues are integrated within regional structures, initiatives, plans and strategies * Initiate work necessary to foster the interests of landscape across the Region * Assist the development of regional landscape policies, programmes and projects * Foster links with other relevant regional and national groups

Membership

3.1.1 |
The membership of the Forum should comprise:
* Up to 2 representatives from each county in the East of
* Up to 2 representatives from each unitary authority in the EoE region * Up to2 representatives from the Broads Authority in the EoE region
These representatives should reflect landscape and/or historic landscape interests in their authority.
Together with one regional representative from each of the following organisations:
* CABE space
* CPRE
* Natural England * DEFRA * EERA * English Heritage * Go East * Groundwork UK * Private landscape sector in the Region (nominated through the East Anglian Landscape Chapter) * Regional Biodiversity Forum
Other members may be co-opted by agreement

Administration

4.1 |
* The group should meet at least 2 times a year at a mutually agreeable venue * The chair shall rotate between meetings * The chair shall be responsible for setting the Agenda, taking the minutes and providing any necessary secretarial support for the meeting * The chair (through his/her organisation) shall be responsible for funding the cost of the venue and any refreshments for the meeting * Any additional work coming from the meeting will be distributed amongst group members by agreement. * Decisions shall be by consensus, when a minimum of six members of the Forum are present * Any statements or views issued by the Forum are the collective statement/views of the Forum rather than those of the individual organisational groups * The cost of any works commissioned by the Forum shall be shared, by agreement, by the member organisations * The Forum shall, collectively seek grant aid for such works above * The Terms of Reference of the Forum can be reviewed at any time by common consent
